About this place
At Osaka-do, the pleasure lies in choosing local Osaka ingredients one plate at a time and pairing them with a drink. The three-kind sashimi platter of wild-caught fish from Osaka Bay costs ¥880, making it a good starting point if you’d like to try several varieties. Individual dishes include thinly sliced flathead from Ozaki Fishing Port and Spanish mackerel sashimi, each ¥780, as well as Osaka Bay sea bass carpaccio for ¥680. Beyond sashimi, the small seafood plates include grilled cuttlefish tentacles with ponzu and deep-fried scorpionfish.
Vegetable dishes also make use of Osaka-grown produce. Purple sweet potato tempura and lightly pickled mibuna from Kanan, along with white leek tempura from Habikino, are each ¥380. Salads of Osaka vegetables with Shin-chan tofu and plum, and Osaka vegetables with grilled Inunaki pork and ponzu are each ¥680. They suit a meal centred on vegetables or a dish to share. Some reviewers also recommend the dried squid, adding another tempting seafood option.
The drinks list includes sake from Osaka breweries, such as the Junmai “Sesshu Nose” from Akishika Shuzo and the Tokubetsu Junmai “Tondasake” from Kotobuki Shuzo. Both are available by the glass at 90 ml or by the 1 gō measure. Beer drinkers can also order Kuran Amber draft beer from Kuninocho in Takatsuki, listed in small (300 ml) and large (500 ml) sizes. The restaurant is described as having a relaxed atmosphere and being suitable for solo diners. One reviewer appreciated being able to enjoy a leisurely conversation over the meal; the setting seems well suited to lingering over small plates and drinks rather than rushing through dinner.
